Andhra Pradesh Police have rescued Tejaswini, a 22-year-old woman who had been missing for nine months, in Jammu. One person has been arrested, and a kidnapping case has been filed against him.

Tejaswini, a student from Machavaram in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district, disappeared on October 28, 2023, with her senior, Amjad.

Her parents then filed a missing complaint. However, there was no progress in the case. On June 22, Tejaswini’s mother, Sivakumari, sought help from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

Pawan Kalyan urged the police to form a special team to find Tejaswini.

The investigation revealed that Amjad had initially taken the victim to Hyderabad. Due to financial constraints, they sold their mobile phones and Tejaswini’s gold ornaments. They moved through Kerala, Mumbai, and Delhi before reaching Jammu.

In Jammu, Amjad found work at a Ahotel but did not allow Tejaswini to have a mobile phone. When Amjad was away, Tejaswini sent an Instagram message to her elder sister. This clue helped the police, who coordinated with Jammu police.

The Jammu police located and detained both Tejaswini and Amjad. Amjad has been charged under Sections 366 (Kidnapping) and 344 (Wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Tejaswini has been handed over to her parents.
