Kamal Haasan’s forthcoming film, ‘Indian 2’, directed by Shankar has been given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, which is slated for a grand release in theatres on July 12, will also see some slight modifications suggested by the censor board. The runtime of ‘Indian 2’ has also been revealed.

‘Indian 2’ is a sequel to the 1996-film of the same name, which remains to be an iconic movie in Tamil cinema.

Going by the board’s suggestions, it looks like the makers of ‘Indian 2’ will mute all the cuss words in the film, and certain controversial terms, including ‘Indian’ from ‘Dirty Indian’. Further, the board has asked to replace the label ‘Bribe market’ from a particular scene.

The film’s runtime is three hours and four seconds. Shankar’s films have always been around the three-hour mark and ‘Indian 2’ is no different.

Here’s a glimpse of the certificate:

‘Indian 2’ is a vigilante film which will bring back Kamal Haasan’s Senapathy from the original. Apart from Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Nedumudi Venu, Vivekh, Bobby Simha and Priya Bhavani Shankar, among others, are part of the cast.

Director Shankar and Kamal Haasan also confirmed the release of ‘Indian 3’. While the film’s shooting has been wrapped up, the post-production work is still pending. Shankar, at a recent event, said that he will begin the post-production work after the release of ‘Indian 2’.

Jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, the film has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, editing by Sreekar Prasad and cinematography by Ravi Varman.
