An Italian woman fulfilled her grandmother’s dream of wearing a saree in a wholesome video that has delighted social media users. Olly Esse, an Italian DJ and influencer, made the “queen” of her heart wear a saree and captured the memorable moment on camera.
Her grandmother, in fact, was so happy that she also did a little dance after wearing the saree.
20 years ago, Olly’s grandmother visited Mumbai with her family as she spent a month in India and enjoyed the culture. She has wished to wear a saree since then, but that dream took years to materialise.
“The story of my nonna and India started 20 years ago, when she decided to come to Mumbai for vacations with her family. She told me, that everyone was looking so amazing, especially since she loved the television series, Sandokan, and she used to adore the Indian wear, as she was a High Fashion tailor herself. She spent one month in India, she bought fabric and she enjoyed the culture, but she was too shy to ask anyone to pleat her saree. And she really wanted to do it,” Olly said.
Soon after Olly got to know about her grandmother’s dream wish, she decided to make it come true.
“When I heard that, I immediately stood up, and told her – today is the day I will make your dream come true. I took out my saree, and we had so much fun pleating it. She looked amazing! And I enjoyed as well, because she deserves the whole world. Love u nonnissima.”
