Actor Varun Dhawan extended his support to defend Samantha after she was criticised by a doctor for being “health illiterate.” Earlier today, July 5, Samantha shared a note on Instagram recommending the use of hydrogen peroxide nebulisation. This caught the attention of The Liver Doc, who then labeled her “health and science illiterate” and stated that hydrogen peroxide nebulization “is dangerous for health.”
The doctor then demanded that Samantha should be jailed. After Samantha reacted to the doctor’s criticism and mentioned, her ‘Citadel’ co-star reacted to her post.
Varun extended his support with a heart-shaped emoticon below her statement on Instagram.
Other than Varun, Rhea Chakraborty also backed the actor and wrote, “Potatoes gonna potate (sic).”
Lakshmi Manchu commented below Samantha’s post and wrote, “Oh my love, haters are gonna hate. Keep doing your good work because it is helping millions (sic).”
In her statement, Samantha mentioned that she had to take different types of medicines after her Myositis (an auto-immune condition) diagnosis. She also added that many of these conventional treatments, which were expensive, weren’t working for her.
She then switched to alternative therapies after trial and error and research, along with the doctor’s suggestions.
Samantha backed her decision and said that she was ‘not naïve enough to go about strongly advocating a treatment’. She said she did it with good intentions because it could help many people who are not able to afford conventional healthcare.
She also called out The Liver Doc aka Dr Cyriac Abby Philips without mentioning his name and suggested that he could have picked a debate with her doctor, whom she tagged on her Instagram post.
It all started when Samantha shared a photo with the following caption: “Before taking medication for a common viral, consider trying an alternative approach. One option is to nebulize with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and distilled water. Works like magic. Avoid unnecessary use of tablets #alternative medicine @dr_mitra_basu_chhillar (sic).”
